Earth Scan Laboratory (LSU) – Gulf of Mexico SST Dataset

This dataset provides daily composite Sea Surface Temperature (SST) for the Gulf of Mexico, derived from GOES-19 ABI observations.

Directory structure:
Files are organized by month:
YYYY-MM/YYYY_MM_DD_GANDALF.nc
Latest sst netcdf file is always available at https://esl-ops.lsu.edu/sst_archive/latest_SST.nc

Variables:
lat            Latitude (degrees north)
lon            Longitude (degrees)
sst            SST with land and cloud mask applied (°C)
unmasked_sst   SST with only land mask applied (°C)

Grid size:
1500 x 2000

Notes:

* SST is derived from infrared brightness temperature
* Cloud and land masks are applied
* Missing values are NaN
