ⓘ How clear-water coverage is calculated

Statistics apply only to water cells in the selected region. The water domain comes from the ESL Gulf CFS mask developed for work by Miller and colleagues and reused by the hurricane dashboard. Land is excluded. Clear-water coverage is conservatively cloud-free observed water divided by all eligible water cells. Cloud/edge is calculated only among observed water; satellite coverage gaps are reported separately.
